Helmets: Yes? No?

I have been debating this topic myself. Many people wear bike helmets, but more do not. The most common reason for not wearing one is usually "It looks bad and ruins my hair". When you think about it, that statement sounds vain. Sure not every person who doesn't wear a helmet gets hurt on a bicycle. Sure you could be the exception. But are you really willing to take that chance?

So for those who want to be safe and fashionable, here are some ideas. Put your hair in a low ponytail or braid. This way the helmet is secure on your head, but you still have a cool look. Or just wear it down. Go ahead and experiment with a helmet and your hair. When you take off your helmet, and you feel as if your hair is a mess, use your fingers to pull your hair back into a slightly high ponytail. Don't worry about the bumps that come by not using a hair brush. Actually, the messy hair style can give you a chic "I did this in three seconds, but still look good" kind of look. If you don't trust me, just look in the mirror and ask the people around you. I bet you most will say your hair looks good or fine.

So wear a helmet and use the mentioned techniques. Saftey doesn't have to mean ugly.

Bare Above the Belly Button

The new trend for the month has become a hot commodity in the fashion world. With the pulled high bottoms (pants or skirts) and the shortened hem of the top, this fad has started to leave the fashion world and begun leaking into the ordinary world. I even tried it out for myself yesterday. Those not used to the conservative, yet showing a glimpse of midriff skin, I suggest getting used to it. Not only does the style look chic, but it attracts plenty of compliments. In my experience from just yesterday, this style, applied with go-together-colors, caught many admiring stares.

Try the trend with a long pencil skirt, or a flowy one that rests a few inches above the knee. Matching floral prints for the top and bottom give a coy and sexy vibe. Those who don't have the money to buy new clothes, take a button-up shirt and leave the last three buttons undone. Tie up the extra material in a knot and pull up a skirt to cover your belly button. Voila! You have the style with no expense.

So, if you're feeling flirtatious, a little low in the compliment department, or just feel like trying something new, I recommend this "In" style. Those with lower confidence, this is a good way to get out of your comfort zone and get more courageous. This is a trend worth working.

Buy an Item; Feed the Poor

Who knew purchasing a vest at target would help feed the poor in America? There is a new helping hand starting June 30th of this month. Feed USA, exclusively at Target, has potential, but is not likely to become a hot item. Judging by the burlap styled hood and raggedy edges, not many will go for this style. However, there is an audience that the designer of these vests was clearly gunning for. This item would look good around July 4th, but has a heavy look that could create unwanted sweat. In already hot environments, I would advise to stay away. However, this would be a good option for those in warm environments with plenty of breezes.

The choice is yours, but I would caution to choose wisely because this Feed USA is bound to be a little pricey.
